Snowflake Announces General Availability on AWS Region in Sweden to Meet Customer Demand for Local Data Residency
December 03, 2021
Sweden, 1 December 2021 - Snowflake, the Data Cloud company, today announced its increasing presence in the Nordics by enabling general availability on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Europe (Stockholm) region in Sweden. The expansion builds on Snowflake’s commitment to customers by providing closer proximity to their data and upholding and maintaining data governance. Snowflake supports local organizations that want to keep their data in Sweden, and leverage the flexibility and scalability of Snowflake’s Data Cloud. The deployment will empower Swedish organizations with the near-instant elasticity of Snowflake to grow their business, in Sweden and beyond. “Snowflake customers operating in Sweden can now keep their data local and, at the same time, mobilise and maximise the value of their data to drive innovation and business agility,” says Dan Öhlander, Country Manager Nordics, Snowflake. “The Nordics is a digitally mature and rapidly expanding market, and having a local cloud deployment in the region has been a top priority for us and our customers.” For many companies, for example within the financial and telecoms industries, having a Swedish-hosted data cloud is essential, due to compliance and the sensitive nature of the data. The local deployment is welcomed by Snowflake customer, Tele2. “Snowflake provides a foundation for customer insights, business development and innovation across our brands, helping us provide the connectivity and entertainment services our customers ask for,” says Henrik Forsberg, Head of Business Intelligence and Analytics at Tele2. “Having Snowflake’s cloud resources residing in Sweden provides us with the highest levels of security and compliance, ensuring we have a future-proof technology infrastructure that we can trust.”
