From the shores of Silicon Valley to the seas that span the world, Snowflake has brought together the best talent and technology to multihull racing. The Snowflake Racing team comprises more than one hundred years of yacht racing and data analytics experience.
MOD-70, A HISTORY
Multihulls have been part of professional sailing since the 1970s. But in 2009, the design for the MOD70 emerged. Five, 70ft trimarans were later constructed of precise specifications with the intent of them being some of the most efficient, performant, and durable yachts on the open seas. They included smaller sail areas for better safety, and a longer central hull, raised beam clearance, curved foils, and the possibility to lift the center hull rudder for better performance.

The vessel that is now the Snowflake MOD70 was originally launched in 2010 under different ownership, and has since won or placed in dozens of races spanning six days to just one hour in duration. With Snowflake as a partner, the MOD70 and its crew now benefit from access to world-class computing solutions and analytics that can capture any amount of information related to the yacht’s design and performance: weather, navigation, speed, and many other data points that result in enhancements to the yacht and new strategies for the crew.
